Lori Nanney

Lori Nanney, Education Instructor and Education Department Chair, is the 2016 Excellence in Teaching Award recipient. She has been teaching at Cleveland Community College since 2006.

“I am grateful for and humbled by this recognition and am appreciative to my students, colleagues and peers for this incredible honor,” said Nanney. “No one gets to be good at what they do without help. There is not one aspect of my job that is not impacted by the work of someone else. Cleveland Community College has a stellar group of faculty and staff who work in a unified effort to support students and each other. We are committed to building excellence and preparing our students for their future and supporting them in reaching their goals. Cleveland County is very fortunate to have such an outstanding institution whose people are dedicated to fostering excellence. I am very blessed to be a very small part of all of it.”

Nanney earned her master’s degree in education, and a bachelor’s degree from Gardner-Webb University. She is currently a doctoral candidate in Curriculum Instruction.

In addition to her work with students, Nanney also serves on the board of the State Employees’ Credit Union in Boiling Springs, the Partnership for Children Board and the Cleveland County Early Head Start Board. She is also a member of the National Association for the Education of Young Children.
