Success & Study Skills and College Transfer Success Courses

There is a definite link to college success and first-year study skills courses. For students in AA and AS (College Transfer) degree programs, we offer ACA 122 | College Transfer Success, a course designed to help you plan and understand what it takes to transfer to one of NC’s four-year universities in order to complete your bachelor’s degree. And for our students enrolled in our AAS degree programs, we offer ACA 115 | Success & Study Skills, a course designed to help you think, act, and perform as a successful college student!

Be sure to follow @ACA_122 and @ACA_115 on Twitter for the latest information on transfer admissions, open houses, and helpful advice on what makes up successful college students!

Virtual Transfer Center

In addition to our College Transfer Success course, we have developed a great webpage of Transfer Information under our Virtual Transfer Center. Find out more information about the CAA (Comprehensive Articulation Agreement of NC), transfer courses and requirements, Transfer Open Houses in NC, and information about our 16 state universities as well as several local, private universities.

We Promote Student Success!

Join us for a week-long Student Success Week during the 2015-2016 year where we have fun providing tips on how you can be successful in college! Also, look for us to promote a variety of Awareness Weeks throughout the year.

An Improved Placement Test

We recently began providing a new English and Reading diagnostic and placement test for incoming students that provides us with a good indication of what level of English course you’ll need to start with at CCC. Information, study guides, and practice questions for the Accuplacer NC DAP test are located on our website.

Lots of Free Tutoring!

We offer a comfortable academic environment where students may come to receive extra help and support in their classes. Students are guided to think logically and work out problems, improving their understanding of the material. Did we mention that it is FREE to enrolled students?

Counseling

College can be a stressful time and we know that. If you ever feel like you need to talk with someone while you are enrolled at CCC, schedule a confidential appointment to meet with a counselor. Our counselors can also provide you with some helpful information about stress management, managing your emotions, dealing with loss or grief, or many other topics of concern. We also can provide you with lots of literature or community agency referrals to help you through the toughest of situations.

TRiO-Student Support Services

Are you a first-generation college student? In other words, are you one of the first in your immediate family to go to college? If so, our TRiO-SSS program might be just the thing you need to help you navigate your way through CCC and plan for your future transition to a four-year university!

Minority Male Mentoring (MMM)

We have a proud history of supporting the advancement of our minority male students at CCC and the surrounding community. We provide opportunities for mentoring, professional development, and one-on-one meetings with a Success Coach who listens, understands, and provides you with great advice and support.
