It was developed utilizing industry-based skill standards and interview feedback from representatives of leading Cleveland County manufacturing companies. \u201cI found the instructors well informed, and in-class virtual training software made for some great Q&amp;A, which clarified many concepts for me,\u201d said Jim Guntis, a Schletter employee who completed the certificate program. \u201cThis, coupled with hands-on, real-world work stations makes the Industrial Maintenance Technician class a must for all levels of maintenance personnel.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The program has six core components: Introduction to Maintenance Procedures, Introduction to Electricity, Hydraulics and Pneumatics, Motors and Controls, Introduction to PLC\u2019s and Industrial Welding.<\/p>\n<p>You will learn cutting-edge technologies in this program and gain the following skills:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Mechanical equipment installation, disassembly, and assembly<\/li>\n<li>Electrical control, motor drives and PLC wiring, installation and troubleshooting<\/li>\n<li>Hydraulic and pneumatic installation and troubleshooting<\/li>\n<li>Machine tool<\/li>\n<li>Preventive maintenance<\/li>\n<li>Process pumping and piping systems<\/li>\n<li>Process controls systems<\/li>\n<li>Building maintenance<\/li>\n<li>Welding<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u201cThe instructors were knowledgeable and willing to take the time to teach on any level,\u201d said Bryan Curry, a Schletter employee who completed the certificate program. \u201cWe covered a lot of topics, but it was all focused on helping us become skilled maintenance techs.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Cleveland Community College works closely with local business and industry to provide training for the specific job skills our local companies require. Local companies like Schletter, Greenheck, Rockwood Lithium, and KSM Castings have a strong demand for Industrial Maintenance Technicians. In response to this demand CCC trained over 25 people this spring in at least one of the six core components. CCC will be registering students for this 96-hour program in the fall.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to technical skills, employers expect job applicants to already have the \u201cessential job skills\u201d needed to be successful in the workplace. Essential job skills include things like teamwork, communication skills, problem-solving, and lean manufacturing. In response to the needs of employers, CCC is offering a 96-hour North Carolina Manufacturing Program Certificate. This certificate has eight core components: Teamwork, Communication, Introduction to Advanced Manufacturing, Introduction to Lean Manufacturing, Safety (OSHA 10), Leadership, Problem-Solving, and a need-based elective.
